MLK, Jr. Park Renovations Project

Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Park is anchored by a tranquil lake featuring a relaxing fountain and a community-built Unity Bridge. This peaceful setting encompasses 23-acres of beautiful scenery, sports and recreation facilities, and the popular Community Playground. The park is perfect for family picnics, fishing from the bridge, sports outings, or just walking along the half-mile mile trail surrounding the lake.

To further enhance MLK Park while honoring the legacy of Dr. King and the historic Hannibal Square neighborhood, this project is focusing on better neighborhood and internal connections, integrating recreational and cultural programming, and strengthening environmental sustainability.

  • Exciting news! As part of the park renovations, a new community playground is coming to MLK Jr. Park in late 2026, featuring playground renderings, a site plan, and logos for CRA, Ovation Construction, and the city seal.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Beginning Monday, March 9, the Community Playground will be closed for renovation through late 2026. The restroom and parking lot will remain open through late spring. While the Community Playground is being improved, please enjoy our other playgrounds. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
