Composting Education/Giveaway Program
By composting, you can help reduce your overall landfill contribution and make organic matter able to improve the chemical, physical and biological characteristics of your soils. With this in mind, we are offering FREE backyard composters to Winter Park residents.
To become eligible you must reside within the City of Winter Park city limits. Check your eligibility by accessing the map of the City of Winter Park Boundary. You will also need to attend an Introduction to Composting class led by UF/IFAS Extension Orange County. Access the event calendar for upcoming classes.

Fix It! Don't Pitch It
This event will be held Saturday, September 7, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Winter Park Events Center located at 1050 W. Morse Blvd.
Fix It! Don’t Pitch It, initiated by the City of Winter Park and the Winter Park Library, is a community repair workshop in partnership with Orange County and City of Orlando. Individuals can bring items in need of fixing as well as share their own repair expertise with participants. This unique workshop is designed to support the city’s Sustainability Action Plan by reducing the daily consumption of goods in homes, encouraging recycling, helping to save money through trade, as well as learning about valuable skills and resources from volunteers within the community.
Previous repairs at the city’s Fix It! Don’t Pitch It events have included eyeglass, watch, jewelry, clocks, fishing poles, electronics, carpentry, books and bike repairs, sewing and furniture assembly. Services are subject to change based on repair volunteers. Don’t miss this fun, free community event!

Household Hazardous Waste Disposal
Household Hazardous Waste (anti-freeze, automobile batteries, CFLs, paints, household chemicals, rechargeable batteries) and eWaste (computers, TVs, etc.) are collected at the Orange County Landfill, Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 5901 Young Pine Road in Orlando and the Seminole County Landfill, Monday through Saturday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at 1950 Sate Road 419 in Longwood.
Prescription Drug Reclamation Station – Outdated, unwanted, and unused medicines in their original containers can be safely disposed of at the Winter Park Police Department Prescription Reclamation Station, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the lobby of the Public Safety Facility located at 500 N. Virginia Ave.

Apartments/Multi-Family Collection
Garbage
Contact your property manager for your garbage collection pickup schedule.
- Garbage must be placed in carts/containers provided by the City of Winter Park/Waste Pro. If you need a new cart/container, request one now by contacting Waste Pro Customer Service.
- All garbage should be bagged and placed inside the cart/container, do not overload the cart/container.
- No household hazardous waste or electronic waste may be placed in carts.
Recycling
Contact your property manager or WastePro for your recycling collection pickup schedule.
Currently, the city does not require recycling collection programs be offered at multi-family units. If your multi-family residential complex is interested in offering recycling collection, please contact WastePro to schedule a site visit and receive more information on pricing. The city’s Sustainability Program can provide assistance with creating a recycling education and outreach plan.

Bulk/Appliances Waste
- Customers may order additional bulk pickup’s for an additional charge, contact Waste Pro for a quote.
- SAFETY NOTE: It is required that all doors form refrigerators and freezers be removed before being placed curbside to ensure children do not become trapped inside.
Construction & Debris (C&D) Materials
Ordinance 3055-16 was adopted by the City Commission November 28, 2016, amending changes to Chapter 82, which governs solid waste including construction & debris (c&d) materials. These materials are generated when new building and civil-engineering structures* are built or existing buildings and civil-engineering structures* are renovated or demolished including deconstruction activities. The table below outlines projects requiring the use of the city’s contract hauler, Waste Pro®. Registered Waste Haulers
The ordinance also requires all non-franchise waste haulers operating within the City of Winter Park to register with the Natural Resources & Sustainability Department, unless exempt by the State of Florida. Please note that all legal remedies available will be utilized to resolve any issues that may arise, including revoking of non-franchise waste hauler permit for up to three years.

Recycling
Did you know that your business can potentially save money while recycling?
Currently, the city does not require recycling collection programs be offered at commercial buildings. Businesses can establish recycling collection programs with one of our registered haulers (check out the C&D Materials tab), Please contact the registered hauler directly to schedule a site visit and to learn more about recycling collection pricing. Once you have started a recycling service, please email the Sustainability Division for assistance on creating a recycling education and outreach plan for your business.
Event Recycling
To request recycling services and bins at an event, please contact the city’s Parks & Recreation Department at 407-599-3463.

Garbage
- To start/stop service, please contact Winter Park Utility Billing Services at customer_service@cityofwinterpark.org or 407-599-3220.
- Garbage must be placed in carts provided by the City of Winter Park/Waste Pro. All garbage should be bagged and placed inside the cart, do not overload the cart.
- Carts should be placed at least 3 feet from mailboxes, utility boxes, trees and shrubs, with the hand and the wheels facing your house.
- Carts may be placed curbside at 7 a.m. on the day of collection.
- If you are physically unable to place your containers curbside, you may request a medical waiver from the city qualifying you for rear door services. Please contact Winter Park Utility Billing Services at customer_service@cityofwinterpark.org or 407-599-3220 for these accommodations.

Recycling

- Items for recycling must be placed in carts provided by the City of Winter Park/Waste Pro. To order additional carts, please contact WastePro directly through their online reporting system or by calling 407-774-0800.
- Do not place any recyclables in plastic bags. All recyclables should be placed loose inside the cart. Do not overload the cart; excess recyclables should be placed in brown paper bags.
- Cardboard boxes can be broken down and placed inside the recycling cart.
- Carts should be placed at least 3 feet from mailboxes, utility boxes, trees and shrubs, with the hand and the wheels facing your house.
- Carts may be placed curbside at 7 a.m. on the day of collection.
- If you are physically unable to place your containers curbside, you may request a medical waiver from the city qualifying you for rear door services. Please contact Winter Park Utility Billing Services at 407-599-3220 or customer_service@cityofwinterpark.org.

Yard Waste
- All yard waste must be containerized. Yard waste containers are not provided. Please place yard waste in large paper bags or reusable carts purchased from one of our local hardware stores. Blue recycling containers should not be used for excess yard waste.
- If yard waste is unable to be containerized, it will only be collected if it is tied stacked and bundled, does not exceed four (4) feet in length (except palm fronds) or four (4) inches in radius, nor be greater than 50 pounds in weight for any piece or segment of such materials. Palm fronds stacked curbside shall be collected whole.
- Yard waste in excess of three (3) cubic yards shall be assessed an extra charge.
- Replacement labels for your curbside cart are available at the Utility Billing Customer Service Desk in City Hall. You may also request a replacement label to be mailed to your home address.
Bulk/Appliances Waste
- Waste Pro collects bulk items such as appliances, furniture, etc. (not hazardous waste) free of charge from customers twice per year during the months of May and November. Access the calendar above or the city’s event calendar for upcoming dates.
- Customers may order additional bulk pickup’s for an additional charge. Contact Waste Pro for a quote.
