America250 Decorate Your Doorstep Competition

Winter Park celebrates America 250 logoIn celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, residents of Winter Park are invited to showcase their creativity and community spirit by decorating their doorsteps with patriotic and sustainable flair. This fun and festive competition encourages residents to honor our nation’s history while incorporating thoughtful, environmentally responsible design choices.

Decorations should be visible from the street or sidewalk and may include porches, stoops, railings, steps or entryways. All decorations must be family-friendly and respectful. Participants are encouraged to express their personal style while incorporating themes of beauty, patriotism and sustainability.

Showcase your doorstep between Monday, June 1, through Saturday, July 4, 2026.
Two $250 prizes
will be awarded for the most beautiful and most sustainable window displays.

Judging Criteria

Entries will be judged by the KPWB&S Advisory Board for two categories – most beautiful and most sustainable. You do not need to meet all criteria to participate — creative and thoughtful design choices matter most.

Most beautiful

  • Use of red, white and blue
    Incorporates patriotic colors in a creative and artistic way.
  • Cohesive and balanced design
    Display has a clear theme and harmonious arrangement.
  • Creative use of lighting
    Includes string lights, lanterns or solar lights that enhance the display, especially at night.
  • American symbols or history
    Features elements such as stars, eagles, the Liberty Bell or historical references.
  • Seasonal or floral accents
    Uses flowers, plants or seasonal décor to add charm and vibrancy.

Most sustainable

  • Recycled, repurposed or homemade materials
    Uses items such as old jars, cardboard, fabric scraps or reclaimed wood.
  • Avoids single-use plastics
    Favors reusable and durable decorations over disposable items.
  • Natural or organic elements
    Incorporates leaves, branches, stones, pinecones or other natural materials.
  • Native or Florida-friendly plants
    Incorporates native or Florida-friendly plants that support local ecosystems.
  • Energy-efficient lighting
    Uses LED, solar-powered or low-wattage string lights.

Terms & Conditions

  • All entries become the property of KWPB&S and may be used in future promotional materials.
  • Decorations must not cause harm to the environment or public property.
  • Decorations must be visible from the street and may not include political messaging.
  • Late or incomplete entries will not be accepted.
  • By entering, participants agree to abide by the contest rules and release the City of Winter Park from any liability related to participation.
