Property turned in as found (except for firearms) may be claimed by appointment at the Winter Park Police Department from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. To claim your lost property, please call the Evidence Unit at 407-599-3322 and provide as much detail as possible in describing the item. You must provide proof of ownership (receipts, etc.) and present a valid photo ID.
Firearms will not be released to anyone without proof of ownership, a background check, and approval from department personnel. Per our policy, the finder cannot claim firearms.
Per Florida State Statute 705.103, found property shall be taken into custody by the responding officer. The agency shall retain custody of the property for 90 days. After 90 days, the agency will dispose of the property per the statute. Items sold are done so by competitive bidding via public sale at propertyroom.com.
