Backyard Biodiversity Day
Saturday, October 19, 2019 | 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM | Free | 407-622-6323
Backyard Biodiversity Day is more than just a native plant sale. There will be speakers, guided hikes and plant workshops. The event is free to the public and all proceeds from the plant sale funds the sandhill restoration project surrounding the Gopher Tortoise habitat that is within Mead Botanical Garden.
Previous years have drawn upwards of 500 visitors throughout the day. Exhibitors and sponsors have included Orange Audubon, Sierra Club, Florida Wildflower Foundation, Friends of Orlando Wetlands and the UCF Arboretum. Vendors will include nature-oriented photographers and artists, as well as creative structures for bat, owl and bee houses. There will also be an activities tent for kids accompanied by music and various local food trucks. An event where you can bring the whole family for a one-day experience of all things related to Florida ecology to learn about various functions of our environment.
