File a Non-violent Crime Police Report (Winter Park, Florida)

Before you begin your report, please gather as much information as possible about the crime. Model numbers, serial numbers, or any other way to identify your property are helpful.

You will be asked to provide information about you, your property, and what happened using the online report form.

After you fill out your report

You will receive a confirmation email with your tracking number after you submit your online report. Online reports are generally reviewed the following business day. Once we review your incident and determine that it meets the criteria for online reporting, we will assign a case number and provide that to you. You can give the case number to your insurance company for claims.

Make certain of the following before you begin:

The event you are reporting must have occurred within corporate City limits of Winter Park.

Report types

There are several different incident types that can be entered using the online reporting. Please review them on the list below and select the proper report type to begin your report.

Theft

Your property is taken without your permission. The property can be anything of value, including a credit card, wallet or purse, or food items.
Property taken from a vehicle does not go under this crime. It goes under Vehicle Burglary.
Property taken from an open garage is a Burglary to a Residence.
Theft of services (dine and dash, repair scam) should be reported as a fraud.
Lost property is not a theft. It should be reported as Lost Property.

Harassing Phone Calls

Someone repeatedly calls you without permission, after you have told them to stop.
This could be a known person or a stranger.

Vehicle Burglary

Property is stolen from a motor vehicle.
This may involve breaking into the vehicle, or simply reaching inside the vehicle.

Vandalism/Graffiti

The act of changing, modifying or defacing public or private property, including intentional damage to a vehicle or structure.
Arson may not be reported online. You will need to call the police department to report any crime that involves arson.

Fraud or Forgery

Below are some examples of fraud or forgery:

Changing the amount on a check or creating a counterfeit check.
Using your credit or debit card without your permission, even if you still possess the actual card.
Stealing your personal information such as name and social security number, bank information, or credit card numbers (Identity Theft).
Posing as a utility, the IRS, or some other person to convince you to send them money. This could be online, over the phone, or in person.
Internet scams.
Confidence scams such as a person sending you a check and asking you to cash it for them.
Fraud involving your medical records.
Someone filing a false tax refund or stealing your benefits.
Writing a worthless check.
