What is the S.A.F.E. Program?

It is an initiative to STOP Violence Against Teenage and Adult Women.

“S.A.F.E.” (an acronym for Self-defense Awareness & Familiarization Exchange) is a FREE unparalleled 2-hour educational awareness, crime-victim prevention program designed by the National Self-Defense Institute. This program encompasses Strategies, Techniques, Options, and Prevention – that provides teenage & adult women with information that may reduce their risk of exposure to violence and introduces them to the basic physical aspects of self-defense.

Time: 9 to 11 a.m.
Location: Winter Park Police Department
Who can attend: girls/women ages 14 and up
Participants per class: min. 10; max. 20

Future S.A.F.E classes will be posted in September 2022. Dates are to be determined. Check back on our website in September.

The Winter Park Police Department in partnership with the Victim Service Center of Central Florida is conducting women’s S.A.F.E. classes for women who work and live in the City of Winter Park. This project is funded by a grant from the Winter Park Community Foundation funds of the Community Foundation of Central Florida, Inc. Participants will become familiar with the “survival mindset” and practice several techniques for avoiding potential abduction encounters perpetrated against women.
