Hannibal Square Community Land Trust
In 2004, the Hannibal Square Community Land Trust (HSCLT) was established as a nonprofit to provide permanent affordable housing for income qualified first-time home buyers. Affordability in perpetuity is achieved by separating land from the building (house) for the purpose of transferring title to the house without selling the land. The HSCLT lease (99 years) agreement ensures that the home will remain affordable and available for other income qualified households for ownership. The HSCLT model serves as a steward over community resources (land) for future residents. The HSCLT is governed by a Board of Directors that make up the general public, HSCLT and community residents. The HSCLT has developed 14 new homes located within Winter Park.
