The Forestry Division is responsible for promoting a healthy and growing tree canopy by providing new tree plantings in the city parks, city facilities and street rights of ways. The forestry crew is also tasked with the education of the public, consultations regarding private trees and addressing immediate public safety issues including storm damage, dead tree and major deadwood removal within city rights of way and city properties.
Winter Park has received the National Arbor Day Foundation’s “Tree City USA” award for the 32nd consecutive year and the Foundation "Growth" award since it’s inception in 1991. This division is also one of the 27 cities nationwide to receive the Foundations Sterling award.
